In 1995, the MCRMA introduced its Membership Charter
which places obligations on its members to ensure the
highest standards in the manufacture of metal roof and
wall cladding materials.
Compliance with a minimum tolerance standard is a requirement
of the Charter and, for the first time in the industry,
the MCRMA has produced a tolerances publication which
allows specifiers to monitor the tolerances standard of
the finished product. Other requirements of the Charter
include accreditation to BS 5750; product branding; installation
recommendations and the employment of in-house qualified
technical engineers.
The MCRMAs formation represented
a significant step forward in raising the standards in
the metal roof and wall cladding industry. The Associations
campaign for improved technical knowledge of metal cladding
within the industry is borne out with the well established
and authoritative series of technical design guides which
has resulted in long term benefit for both specifiers
and end users.
-
MCRMA members are committed to providing
high quality products and services. All members are
accredited to BS 5750 or are moving towards achieving
accreditation within two years of membership.
-
Certificates of origin will be provided
on request for the raw materials from which MCRMA members
manufacture their products.
-
Raw materials will be sourced from
companies using ISO 9000/T2 standards.
-
In the absence of appropriate British
or European Standards, manufacturers' tolerances are
as stated in the MCRMA publication entitled Manufacturing
Tolerances for Profiled Metal Roof & Wall Cladding.
-
All MCRMA members use internationally
recognised calculations or test data as a basis for
the figures shown in their load/span tables. Details
of the design criteria used are available on request
from any individual member.
-
MCRMA members employ in-house qualified
technical services engineers providing building design
assistance to specifiers and contractors thereby ensuring
compliance with Building Regulations and other required
standards. Members' qualified engineers are registered
with the MCRMA.
- MCRMA will offer advice on appropriate installers and
will provide installation recommendations and procedures in accordance
with good practice.
-
In the event of a dispute, MCRMA members
can advise on an appropriate third party to consult.
-
MCRMA members will brand all products
to ensure swift and proper identification.
-
MCRMA reserves the right to withdraw
membership from any company found to be breaking the
rules of this Charter.
