Key Features
- In all cases the building frame must include structural elements running up the
angle of the hip to support the edge of the cladding and withstand all load cases.
- All fixings and seals must be to manufacturers' recommendations.
- Thermal bridging at hips should be low, similar to ridges.
- All exposed site cut steel edges should be coated to resist corrosion.
- All flashing joints to manufacturers' instructions.
- Details should be provided for the upslope and downslope ends of hips. These
are awkward, and usually left to the sheeters on site.
