    Key Features
  • In all cases the building frame must include structural elements running up the angle of the valley to support the edge of the cladding and withstand all load cases.
  • All fixings and seals must be to manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Thermal bridging is potentially high, depending on the gutter design.
  • The cover trims on the cut edges of composite panels cover the cut edge and exposed insulation, but they can also act as a dirt/debris trap for water running down the roof. Large gaps required, and regular maintenance/inspection.
  • All exposed site cut steel edges should be coated to resist corrosion.
  • All flashing joints to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Details should be provided for the upslope and downslope ends of hip valleys. These are awkward, and usually left to the sheeters on site.
