UK’S LARGEST BSF SCHOOL

Euroclad’s standing seam system was chosen to roof a huge area of Hadley Learning Centre in Telford due to its performance, design flexibility and sustainable credentials.

At the time of completion Hadley Learning Centre was the largest ‘Building Schools for the Future’ project in the UK. It encompasses over 20,000 square metres of roofing, much of which is curved aluminium standing seam roofing fixed over non-combustible, environmentally friendly insulation. The highly efficient Eurobar Extra spacer system sits at the heart of the roof which is anchored by a Euroclad liner sheet fixed to the secondary structure of the building. Around 2000 sqaure metres of green sedum roof was installed, which enhances the buildings environmental credentials and performance.

An Interserve consortium has delivered this groundbreaking scheme for the Borough of Telford & Wrekin.

The stunning ‘wheelhub’ design groups around a central forum, underpinning the partnership-based environment in which pupils, parents, practitioners and the larger community develop through a shared learning experience. The in-house design team at Sharkey & Co. created a superb looking building as well as a lasting roofing solution.

The project comprises a new 1,200 place school, a 420 place primary school combining existing infant and junior schools, a learning resource centre, a children’s centre and a 140 place severe and profound learning difficulties special school. Jigsaw comprises a new school and residential accommodation to provide specialist support to secondary age pupils with emotional, behavioural, social and health difficulties.

In all, the Hadley Learning Community provides more than 1,900 places for pupils from pre-nursery to 16 years – all within an inclusive environment.
